Family weekend getaway!

The last weekend of July we had planned to go to Palacios to see JD's Grandparents and for him and his Papa to play in an annual gold tournament. We have done this every year (except 08) since we've been married and JD has been doing it every year since he was small.  It's a really special time with his Grandparents. The event is called the Shrimporee and it's a celebration of the blessing of the fleet as the shrimp boats go out.

So the day we were supposed to leave, JD's Papa had to go to the emergency room for some complications. We had already packed up and because we have 2 little ones it would be stressful for us to take the kids and try to keep them quiet the whole time. So we had decided that we would go to San Antonio instead and go to Sea World them travel to Palacios after that if his Papa was up to it.

We ended up having a really great time! We called some of our dearest and best friends, Rashad and Illa (who live in Austin) and we stopped by their house on the way to San Antonio (about 11p.m.).
They have a precious little girl (my niece) Cadence Amani Ronelle, but we call her Amani. She is the CUTEST! I love her so much! The girls had such fun playing with her!

After our visit (only about 30 min), we got on the road and finished our trip to San Antonio. We stayed at a hotel about 3 miles from Sea World that also had shuttle service (hallelujah) to Sea World!  But for some reason, Jenna NEVER went to sleep!! She stayed up the whole night, WIDE awake!!

We've learned to roll with the punches and it turned out fine and we had a great time at Sea World.

San Antonio is really hot in August, but I was so proud of our girls for being such troopers...

After our brief stay in San Antonio it was on to Palacios! We had a wonderful time...

Jenna turns 2!!!

Wow! My big girls turned 2 on July 15th! I am amazed at how big she has gotten and how grown up she is now! She can count (a little), she knows her colors (most of them), she knows her shapes (really well), and most of her alphabet (not necessarily in order). She is so proud of herself! She LOVES to paint and color and be CrEaTiVe. She is just a wonderful little girl and such a joy to us!

For her birthday, we weren't going to do anything big because we had such a busy summer and were thinking we would also be moving around the same time so we thought just a small get together with some family would do. Then JD's grandparents decided they would come into town the weekend before her birthday to celebrate. So we decided to have a small party at my sisters house (since her house is roomy and she has a playground out in back). I went to the party store down the street and got some Elmo decorations, ordered a cake from Tom Thumb, and texted a few friends to invite them over. All just a few days before the party! It turned out to be a great success! Jenna and all the kids had a blast and Jenna especially enjoyed opening her gifts! :)

Here are a few pictures of the day.....

More birthday FuN!!!

For the last 2 years, during Jenna's birthday week there is also a carnival that comes to the Ridgemar mall. It's not a super great carnival, and honestly I am not a huge carnival fan. But it was something to do that would continue the excitement of her birthday and be good entertainment for the family! So off to the carnival we went....

We had a great time! Although, because we went in July in TEXAS... well, the pictures will tell you. It's not pretty!

But a good time was had by all and that is what matters!

I love our family, I love my in-laws, and my adorable niece and nephew. God is so good!

4th of July!!

This year the fourth landed on a Sunday! It was really the perfect day of the week for us, because JD always has Sunday's off. A few weeks before the fourth I picked up the girls matching red, white, and blue dresses at Children's Place. But waited until the Saturday before the 4th to make their matching bows. It all turned out really cute! I LOVE having the girls in matching outfits!!! So Sunday morning we went to church, then the church hosted a Bar-B-Q lunch after the morning service in celebration of paying off debt.

It was a great afternoon, although, INCREDIBLY HOT!!! After church we headed home for some naps, then off to Burleson to watch the fireworks with the family! It actually turned out to be even better than it had in the past. The Burleson Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted a free family event with blow up slides and jumphouses, a free train ride and even free water! The kids had a blast!! And it was especially good because the show took SO LONG to start! Now kudos to the SDA church, but the City of Burleson fireworks show left much to be desired. It was mediocre to say the least. But the kids liked it so that is all that mattered!

 Jenna knocked out after church!

Bella found the picnic blanket to be the perfect spot to eat and nap!

Father's Day 2010

This year JD got to celebrate Father's Day as a Father of two beautiful girls!!! I am SO blessed to have such an amazing Husband who goes above and beyond to provide a wonderful life for us. We are so thankful to be the blessed ladies who get to have him all to ourselves! JD absolutely adores his little girls! They have his heart. Jenna and JD have a very special bond, she wakes up every morning wanting her Daddy, and if he has already left for work she asks, "Where's Daddy?" With her arms in the air. She is head over heels in love with her Daddy. Which makes me melt! JD LOVES when he gets to walk hand in hand with Jenna. That is something he has looked forward to since she was in my womb. He SO looked forward to the day that he could hold her hand and walk beside her. They run circles around the house in the evenings until they are exhausted, then they lay on the floor and tickle each other and wrestle. Makes my heart happy!

And Bella, she is starting to form her own special bond with her Daddy. It's so cute to see her light up when he comes in the room and she hears his voice. Her little smile gets so big and bright! JD loves to cuddly and squeeze her. He is loving that she is to the point where she likes to interact with him. The first time she was aware of him and thrilled to see him, it melted his heart and he talked about it for days.

JD always says that every man needs a little girl. I could not be more blessed to have a super sensitive Daddy for my little girls!

Bella gets the munchies!!!

On June 12th, Bella turned 4 months old!!! Which means..... She got to try baby food and biter biscuits!!
She loved the bited biscuit! She made quite a mess. But she wasn't too thrilled about the baby food. JD has most of the pictures on his phone, but here are a few I found!

First and last swim day of the summer!

Jenna and I went swimming on a Monday afternoon with Bethany, Natalie, Angie, Maddox, and Dee at Dee's house. It was LOTS of fun! I left Bella with Aunt Amy and she also had some fun! Jenna was quite the pro. At first she clung to me and didn't want me letting her go. But after about 30 minutes she was striking out on her own and fully independant (except for her floaties)! I'm amazed at how big she is growing and how fast!

Bella's first trip to the ZOO!!!

In the early part of June (notice I forgot the date), we had a family day at the Fort Worth ZOO! It was lots of fun! It was Bella's first trip to the zoo, and even though she had no idea what was going on, it was special!
It was CRAZY hot, but we made it through with no tears!!

Jenna's end of year program

On May 25th we attended Jenna's end of the year school program at her school. It was ADORABLE to say the least! First off, the auditorium was PACKED!! So to put a group of toddlers up in from of hundreds of people to sing a song is going to be comical. They were so cute! She just kind of stood there and clapped. Which made me the proudest Mom ever! I absolutely LOVE my little girl. And am SO proud her!
Here are a few pictures....

Our little family, oh so proud of Jenna! Her Daddy even got her a rose :)

I'm so sorry you're white....

I know that title sounds funny. But that is pretty much how I felt at the MAC counter yesterday.

So, being a mother means several things....endless work, endless rewards, no sleep, slobbered on food, poop on hands, poop on clothes, poop everywhere, etc.

To prove my point, yesterday I changed 6 diapers from 8-10AM. Yes, that is right. It's such a glamorous job.

Anyways, one of the highlights (total sarcasm) of my job is that I am progressively getting whiter as the days SLOWLY pass by. I bought some foundation not too long ago at MAC that matched my skin just fine. I am now halfway through the bottle and 2 shades too light for this make-up. It is a problem. My solution? No, not to go get tan enough to match my make-up, but to spend another $34(w/tax) on a new lighter shade of make-up.

So we go to the MAC counter and I tell them what I need. The lady looks at me with a sad look on her face, I guess most people that use MAC make-up don't let themselves get as white as I have. Here I am thinking, "I am an easy customer, I know what I want and this girl gets a great sale!" The girl, obviously not a saleswoman, gives me a plethora of options..... lay out, tanning membership, mystic, self tanner, lots of bronzer, etc. Then when I decline and say, it's okay, I'll just take the make-up. She looked at me like I was dying and said, "I'm sorry..."

I am guessing this is because when I asked to see a lighter shade, she replied saying that it was the lightest shade they carry.... I am not worried, I don't think it's possible for me to get any whiter than I currently am.

Maybe I'll get some sun time at some point....

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!
I love Mother's Day. I have celebrated 3 so far, my first was when I was pregnant with Jenna, then with Jenna last year, and now with 2 girls this year!!
As every year, this year we went to church. Then of course because we have little ones we came straight home for nap time. We picked up some Rosa's (delish!!) and had JD's family over to chill at the house for a little while.
It was nice and relaxing. Nearing the end of the visit, Jenna and Andrew were playing and somehow ended up having a collision which sent Jenna into a metal chair where she sliced her gums up all around the middle of her top tooth. Her little mouth was filled with blood which ended up ruining a brand new shirt I had spent lots of money on and her little shirt as well...nice. That night she woke up with her mouth filled with blood again. I felt so sorry for my little love. It's amazing how much it hurts your heart when your baby is in pain. I wish so bad I could take it all away instantly. We prayed over her and told her pain to leave, then she fell asleep on the rocker with JD and they took a small nap. I guess that is the fun of having little ones! Lots of stories to tell them later!
After nap time we went shopping and JD bought me a beautiful leather recliner! I had been asking him for a recliner and he did great! I have spent the week rocking and reclining with both my girls and that is the best! Especially because I could only hold 1 of them on the glider, so this is SO much better....keeps all the ladies of the Diaz household happy!!
After that we ended up at the mall and a few other stores. Then headed off to church.
All in all, a very eventful but Happy Mother's Day!
I am so blessed to be the Mother to my 2 wonderful girls!!!
